Georgia Tech researchers find ways to use Origami as the structural basis for real world applications such as deployable antennas and bridges.
In this design activity, students designed a deployable (retractable) pavilion, a self-standing shell structure that is capable of altering from a very compact arrangement to an expanded configuration. To respond to changing scale, the structure obtains a transformational capacity that is provided through built-in mobility.
For this monument with its advanced technology, constantly illuminated with LED lights, Koert Vermeulen & ACTLD created in total 1260 shows to produce the genuine dynamic effects through a play of light, video, water, fireworks, as well as bubbles and sounds.

ArboSkin is a Bioplastic Façade Research Project developed at ITKE (Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design) ,Institution that has many years of experience in teaching and research in the fields of computer based design, simulation, and production of cladding for buildings with complex geometries.
In this parametric design video you can see 9 amazing magnet gadgets.
The Moses Mabhida Stadium by GMP Architekten is located in a sporting precinct in Durban on the shore of the Indian ocean and features a 105-metre arch that rises over the circular stadium. The arch is connected by cable system to the external edges of the roof, carrying the weight of the roof’s inner membrane.
Theme “El Amor de Chile “ The Concept From the Atacama Desert to Patagonia, from its central green valleys to its eastern islands, extreme geographical diversity is a key feature of Chile’s showcase at Expo Milano 2015. As a main attraction, the pavilion takes visitors on a journey to experience its different ecosystems, deserts, rivers, valleys and mountains, showing how life …
Compilations of ten materialized artworks by legendary Zaha Hadid (1950-2016) across the planet.
This parametric design video shows robotic milling (using the Kuka PRC plugin) from Firefly’s audio analytic tools. The waveform was milled by turning an MDF panel. The higher the volume is, deeper the tool goes.
Manuel Herz Architects has completed a housing block in Zurich, with dynamic facades that transform into balconies for its five apartments. On all four sides of the three-storey Ballet Mécanique, the walls on the two lowest levels are opened using
Designed by MIT researchers and Known as M-Blocks, these self assembling robots are cubes with no external moving parts. Nonetheless, they’re able to climb over and around one another, leap through the air, roll across the ground, and even move while suspended upside down from metallic surfaces.
This parametric design video is a simple instruction of how to build the Comb shelf. The spherical shape of the design bookshelf COMB gently protrudes from the wall like a sculpture while offering a practical and eye-catching way to store and showcase items.
This book covers new materials and design methods, advances in computational design practices, innovations in building technologies and construction techniques, and the integration of research with design.
This parametric design video is about “Kinetic Rain” art installation at the Changi International Airport in Singapore. The sculpture was commissioned by Changi Airport Group Singapore in 2012 as part of refurbishment efforts of Terminal 1. It stands as the largest kinetic art sculpture in the world.
An amazing example of parametric design are Kinetic Sculptures. For the breath taking technology that combines the latest findings of engineering with the most innovative forms of arts.
HypoSurface is parametric design of a dynamically reconfigurable interactive architectural surface The HypoSurface is currently being entirely redeveloped using electromagnetic actuators for the new National Museum of Energy (NME), Ponferrada, Spain.
Latest explorations in testing the ABB IRB6700-200 Robot named Lola.
This parametric design video is about Radiolaria – a bio-inspired design app by Nervous System. Radiolaria lets you manipulate a web of connected cells to create a huge variety of biologically-inspired patterns. Each object you create starts as a basic hexagonal mesh which you can change as much, or as little, as you want with a variety of tools.
Architecture Design : the UK pavilion at Expo 2010, colloquially known as the Seed Cathedral, was a sculpture structure built by a nine-member conglomeration of British business and government resources directed by designer Thomas Heatherwick.

How can we ensure adequate food for mankind that is of good quality and healthy in the long term? France is focusing on this central issue posed by Expo Milano 2015, with a commitment to participate fully in the discussion, providing answers based on its capabilities and …
This parametric design video is about Cell Cycle: a generative product design application. You can interact with a physics simulation of spring meshes to design your own cellular rings and bracelets for manufacture by 3d printing.
Studio Arthur Casas and Atelier Marko Brajovic won the competition to create the Brazilian Pavilion for Expo Milan 2015, commissioned by APEX-Brasil. We aimed to combine architecture and scenography in order to provide visitors with an experience that would transmit Brazilian values and the aspirations of its agriculture and livestock farming according to the theme …
This is a parametric design video about white canvas. An immersive audiovisual installation created by Cocolab. Commissioned by ARCA, presenting at TagCDMX 2016.
The purpose of this research is to assess daylight performance of buildings with climatic responsive envelopes with complex geometry that integrates shading devices in the façade. To this end two case studies are chosen due to their complex geometries and integrated daylight devices. The effect of different parameters of the daylight devices is analysed through Climate base daylight metrics (CBDM).
