Waffle Structure

In this grasshopper tutorial, I will model a waffle structure and use a solid model to define the sections. First of all, we will model a solid and then we will use simple techniques to extract the sections and then we will calculate the slit and the waffle structure.

      Hi SJunggeburth
Attach your GH file and Rhino file in a single zip so I can check what the problem is

The problem with your model is :

1- You don’t have a solid model. Cap your poly-surface and then start contouring
2- Your thickness is too much! Try to give a correct thickness based on real dimensions!
3- Try to extract the right number for the final face (list item)

Take a look at this algorithm for more info

i have modeled another object on 3dsmax and imported it to rhino, when i use the brep and go to select the geometry i can’t select it ,and i noticed that you are using a node with glasses logo before the brep ,that i cant find .
can you help me on this and thanks ?

The problem of using a 3dsmax object is that you’re using a mesh. you have to smooth the contour to get better results. The glasses is not that important and it’s the bifocals plugin

Thanks for sharing. It really helps to understand the principles behind. I tried to download 3d model from 3D warehouse and imported to rhino. I turned mesh to nurb and boolean union to join the polysurface and set one brep. However, surface cannot be created for horizontal parts. I tried to use boundary surface but only 1 surface is inherited and form one horizontal part. I think it is joined together. It trapped me for long. May I ask for you help?

You’re welcome. Please make a zip file from your definition and rhino file so I can see where exactly the problem is
