Inspired by the vein structures that carry fluids through organisms from the leaves of plants to our own circulatory systems, we created a simulation which uses physical growth principles to build sculptural, organic structures.
Through the use of parametric scripting various panelized surface formations, panel configurations and patterns were studied for the facade. Ultimately, three profiled perforated metal panels were cut and broken into varying surface conditions and gradated onto the facade.

This work describes the fabrication of deployable structures using smart soft composite actuators combining a soft matrix with variable stiffness properties and hinge-like movement through a rigid skeleton.
